FOXBORO – The U14 and U16 Boston Lady Whalers set the tone for their program at the 2024 Women’s Chowder Cup. Each scored a lopsided win to open the tournament earlier in the day on Friday. The U19 Lady Whalers followed suit on Friday evening when they opened their slate with an 8-3 victory over FCA Hockey.
There was a wide margin in the end, but the game was tight in the early goings. Boston took to the first break with just a one-goal advantage at 2-1.
It was a score that was repeated in the second, the Whalers scoring twice more and FCA once in the middle frame. The game was sent to the third at 4-2.
Boston continued to grind and eventually wore down their foe. They popped for four more in the third to double their own score and put away the win. Lily Jorgenson added a third period goal for FCA to round out the game’s 8-3 final.
Josie Grossman (2G, 1A) and Lola Reid (1G, 2A) led the way for the Whalers offense with three points apiece. Teammate Charleigh Milburn had two goals in the contest.
Noel Schaab was credited with the win in the Boston net.
