Dukes hold off Team Doritos in 4-3 win.

CANTON – As the second day of preliminary round play at New England Pro Am’s 2018 Sr. Chowder Cup continued, Dukes CDHL held off Team Doritos for a 4-3 win in College Open division play at the Canton Ice House.

The teams went back and forth in the game’s opening half. Defenseman Kieran Baker opened scoring with an unassisted goal at 7:47, putting Dukes up 1-0. Doritos answered back at 12:41 on a goal by Andrew Stoneman, but Daniel Panetta had Dukes back in the lead at 17:41. The 2-1 score remaining set through the duration of the first half.

Doritos was on the scoreboard first in the second half. Raif Harris tied the game 2-2 with his score at 2:12. Dukes, however, answered right back as Baker notched his second of the contest just 27-seconds later, making it 3-2. It was a one-goal lead that was extended to two on a power play goal by Tanner Flood at 10:30.

Ryan Eckert had Doritos within one on an unassisted tally at 17:50, but there was no further comeback bid to be had as Dukes held on for the 4-3 victory.

Baker, the game’s only multiple point scorer, paced the offense with a three-point showing; two goals and one assist. Danick Francour was credited with the win in net for the Dukes.
