Toronto Sparta continues to dominate.

CANTON – Toronto Sparta Academy has made a run through the opening round of the 2023 Mini Chowder Cup. After two wins on the opening day of play on Friday, they finished their preliminary round schedule with another two wins on Saturday, the first of which was an 8-0 drubbing of Performance Hockey Group at the Canton Ice House.

Sparta made easy work of Performance Hockey, potting four goals in each of the game’s two halves.

Evan Fisher and Connor Maarse each with a pair in the first.

Josh Ince tacked on a pair of his own in the second half, while Maarse added another and a goal from Tyler Miele rounded out the 8-0 assault.

Maarse’s three goals lead all goal scorers in the contest, while Johnathan Tait had a game-high three assists in the win, but Ince had two assists to go with his two goals for a game-high four points.

The victory in the Toronto net went to Joe Harms. In total, the netminder racked up four wins and three shutouts in the opening round of the tournament.
