Superskills 1 shuts out Stingrays, 4-0

Runaway victory scored after scoreless first.

FOXBORO – After a 5-2 victory over the Datona Racers Red on Friday, Superskills 1 continued their pursuit of perfection throughout the first round of the 2014 New England Pro-Am International Pre-Draft Showcase as they hung a 4-0 win on the Ontario Stingrays Saturday afternoon at the Foxboro Sports Center.

It was a first half seemingly as even as they come with Superskills and the Stingrays playing to a 0-0 tie, Superskills holding a mere 12-11 shot advantage through 25 minutes. It did not take long for the wheels to fall off, however, as the game moved into the second.

Just 0:20 into the second half, Ed Griffin got the ball rolling as he gave Superskills a 1-0 lead. Not done there, Griffin doubled the lead just 40 seconds later for a 2-0 Superskills advantage all of 1:00 into the half.

Andrew Ethridge matched Griffin’s two goals with a pair of his own, tallies coming at 5:14 and 8:47, to round out Superskills’ scoring for the 4-0 final.

Each team has one game remaining in the tournament’s opening round. Superskills will look to finish a perfect 3-0 as they take on EHG Maroon at 8:20 p.m., while the Stingrays will attempt to finish above .500 when they face the Datona Racers Red at 8:30 p.m. Both games at the Foxboro Sports Center.
