WALPOLE – In a match-up likely to be the one that decides who earns the top seed in Bracket 4, the Boston Generals Green scored a 4-2 victory over CHE Saturday afternoon at Rodman Arena, advancing their tournament record to 2-0.
The final went to the Generals, but it was CHE who was on top through the first quarter of the contest, controlling possession and grabbing the game’s first lead as Nicholas Geiser beat Drew Vogler at 9:30. As the period wore on, however, the Generals slowly began to take over the game and a pair of goals late in the half gave them a 2-1 advantage at the break.
The Generals furthered their lead to 3-1 just 1:30 into the second half as St. Andrew’s product Matthew Graham recorded his first goal of the tournament. CHE got back to within one when Chandler Gillespie scored at the 7:00 minute mark, but that was as close as any comeback would come.
Mark Knowlton, who led the game in scoring with one goal and two assists, sealed it for the Generals with the team’s fourth goal at 24:10 of the second half.
The Generals will win their bracket outright with a win over the Eastern Eskimos on Saturday evening. Puck drop at Rodman is at 5 p.m.
