CANTON – The New England Freezers started off their stay at the 2023 Chowder Cup Thursday morning by icing out the PHA Icemen for the 2-1 College Open win at the Canton Ice House.
New England won in the end, but it was a tight contest throughout. The first half both began and ended in a draw, each side getting a goal in the opening frame. It was not until into the second frame when AJ Prioli put the Freezers ahead with his first goal of the tournament.
Goaltender Sean Jackson kept the Icemen off the scoreboard in the second to preserve the win for the Freezers.
