A furious finish sees Canada West finish ahead of East Coast Militia.

CANTON – The tenor of a game can change in an instant.

And it did so on Friday morning as Canada West Elite White defeated the East Coast Militia 7-5 at the Canton Ice House.

The scoring was low through the first half, each side managing just one tally. Zach Nelson for the Militia, Zachary Boulet for Canada West making it an even 1-1 at the intermission.

In the second, however, the game was as offensive as the first half was defensive with a total of 10 goals scored. Canada West contributed six, the Militia four, each side chipping in a short-handed score for good measure.

Gabriel Longshore led the way with a goal and two assists for Canada West, but a trifecta of Longshore’s teammates also had multiple entries on the scoresheet. Boulet (1G, 1A), Charles Massey (2G) and Evan Easton (1G, 1A) were all credited with multi-point contests.

Drew Arpin and Cam Welby each had a pair of points with a goal and an assist to lead the Militia on the scoresheet.
