CANTON – Traveling from Sweden to Massachusetts, Future Star Academy did not waste any time making sure they came this far without positive results. Future Star Academy Blue defeated Boston Jr. Rangers Red 4-3 in their opening game of New England Pro-Am Hockey’s 2019 Pre-Draft Showcase.
The Rangers were on the board first, but the Future Stars came out stronger in the opening period, amassing a 3-1 lead by the half’s conclusion. Aidan Dahlberg, William Wallin and Samuel Bjurling all scoring for the Future Stars in the frame. Jake Mecrones netting the tally for the Rangers, leaving things at 3-1 heading into the break.
Boston had better luck in the second, netting a pair with the scores coming from Nate Matthews and Josh Barton. Yet, while they were able to outscore their opponent in the frame, they were never able to surpass them. An Emil Jardefalk goal at 15:16 accounting for the game-winner.
Isak Colijn and William Gustavsson split the victorious goaltending duties in the Future Stars’ net.
