Canada West scores Pre-Draft’s first win.

FOXBORO – The 2019 NEPHL season has begun and Canada West opened that season with a win as Canada West Beige defeated Coast 2 Coast 3-1 in College Open play on Friday morning.

It was a contest that did not get away from either side, the score close until the end. Coast 2 Coast earned the game’s first advantage on a Jeremy Duguay score 7:14 into the contest. As it began, however, the first half came to a close with the score even, Conrad Szmyd scoring with 1:19 remaining to send the teams to the locker rooms tied at 1-1.

Once the teams returned to the ice, the scoresheet belonged to Canada West. Hunter Wahl scored at 5:04 to put them in front for good, and then Dylan Castello scored in the game’s final minute to secure the victory.

Szmyd and Castello each were credited with a goal and two assists to lead the contest in scoring, while Jake Hahn was credited with the win in net for Canada West.
