CANTON – With Day 1 of the 2023 Chowder Cup coming to a close, Michigan Legacy Elite closed out the opening day’s slate at the Canton Ice House with a 7-5 College Open win over the Goodfells on Thursday evening.

The high-scoring affair did not take long to heat up as both offenses got going in the first, combining for five goals that resulted in a 3-2 Legacy lead at the intermission. Christian Rapp, Collin Kelley and Charlie Price each with a Michigan goal, Josh Angel and Jack Rueff doing the first half scoring for the Goodfells.

In the second, both offenses picked it up and bettered their goal total from the first by one each to round out the 7-5 Michigan victory.

Six different Michigan skaters came away with a goal in the contest, Kelley the only Legacy player with multiple, finishing with a game-high three points (2G, 1A). Jackson Kinter (1G, 1A) also had multiple points for Michigan.

It was a balanced scoring attack for the Goodfellas as well, all five of their goals came off a different stick blade. Thomas Brozyna and Daniel Gallant leading the offense with two assists apiece.
