Tone setting win for Mercenaries.

CANTON – The 2018 Mini Chowder Cup is underway and the MV Mercenaries got their stay at New England Pro Am’s annual affair started with a 6-2 win over Parisi Hockey on Friday morning at the Canton Ice House.

The Mercenaries came out strong in setting a tone for the game and the tournament, netting three unanswered in the game’s opening half. Richard Guarino just nine-seconds in, Anthony Divito at the 2:29 mark and then Nicholas Nardone at 19:50 set the 3-0 advantage for the Mercs.

Out of the break, they were just as dominant. The total ran to five unanswered goals following a power play goal by Divito at 4:37 and a second of the game from Nardone at 6:16 of the second half.

A power play goal of their own at 14:36 got Parisi on the board late in the second, but there was no comeback to be had. The two traded another goal each the rest of the way, bringing the score to its 6-2 final.

The respective pair of goals for each Divito and Nardone led the game in scoring at two points apiece. Jack Russo was credited with the win in net for the Mercenaries.
