Stars streak past Royals

Lincoln’s six-goal run fuels 8-4 win.

FOXBORO – It was a productive morning for the Lincoln Stars, as they started off Day 2 of the 2015 Chowder Cup with an 8-4, Jr. A Division win over the Long Island Royals on Friday at the Foxboro Sports Center.

Trailing 2-1 late in the first half, Owen Beyer scored his first of the tournament for Lincoln, an unassisted tally at 22:58. The score not only tied the game, 2-2, but it touched off the rally that ultimately led to the Stars win.

Back to even, Connor Shwartz put Lincoln in the lead with the first of his two in the game at 23:42, sending it to the half 3-2. The Stars then opened with four straight out of the intermission to put themselves at length, 7-2.

Travis Quigley’s score at 9:45 stemmed the bleeding, but it was not enough to get the Royals offense going on a comeback. The two sides traded goals one more time and the game ended 8-4.

Jay Feiwell (2G, 2A) led the way on the score sheet for with a game-high four points for Lincoln, while Logan Stark (2G, 1A) and Aidan Worrall (1G, 2A) aided Feiwell’s effort with three points apiece. Quigley ended the contest with a goal and an assist to his credit to lead the Royals.
