RAYNHAM – Little Rhody made it 2-for-2 thus far at the 2015 Chowder Cup on Friday morning, opening the day’s slate of games at the Raynham IcePlex with a 4-3 win over Top Shelf in College Open Division play.
Back-and-forth went the scoring all game long, every goal being met with an opponent’s response, much of the action coming in the game’s second half.
With Rhody up 1-0, Top Shelf got on the board just 40-seconds after the second half’s opening face-off on a goal by Tyce Thompson, and the punches continued to be traded from there. Twice more Rhody would go up by one and twice more Top Shelf would come back and tie it.
Then, with just seconds to play and the goaltender pulled, Rhody landed the final punch, Mike Jessman netting the game-winner at 24:36.
A pair from Little Rhody were credited with multiple points in the victory effort, both Dylan Legarie and Aaron Deady with a goal and an assist. Thompson had a game-high two goals, while teammate Joe Cipollone had a game-high two assists.
Anton Zemba and Steven Schmitt combined in net to post the win for Rhody.
