Rapid Hockey perfect through prelims.

WALPOLE – It has been three up and three down thus far at the 2017 Jr. Chowder Cup for Rapid Hockey Development’s 2002 squad. They wrapped up their sweep through the preliminary round on Saturday afternoon at Walpole’s Rodman Arena with a 6-1 victory against Eastern Elite Hockey Red.

The score was tight through the first half, a mere one goal scored in the opening 25-minutes. That goal coming courtesy of Rapid forward Samuel Limoges at 16:38.

It was a much different story, however, in the game’s second half as the score flourished and did so from the start. Just 1:05 out of the intermission, Antony Mirarchi doubled the lead to 2-0. All of 10-seconds after that, Rapid’s advantage moved to 3-0 on a goal by Alexandre Saul.

Not to be outdone, Eastern Elite got in on the early action with a goal from Conor Booth at 2:10 of the second. That, however, is where their scoring for the contest ended.

They already had more than enough to seal the win, but Rapid Hockey did not let up in their pursuit of victory. Instead, they went on to double their offensive output with three more goals scored the rest of the way. Emanuel Meduri at 9:49, Colin Lu at 11:47 and Shayan Vu finalizing the 6-1 final at the 12:29 mark of the second half.

All six Rapid Development goals came from a different player, leaving the two assists credited to Liam Verdoni as the game’s high in points.

Goaltenders Gino Carpineta was credited with the win in net.
