Foxboro, Mass. — It took more than regulation and more than overtime, but Hallzy Films 19U found a way to advance, defeating Corners Hockey in a dramatic shootout to earn a spot in the championship game on Sunday.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS:
From the opening faceoff, both teams settled into a tightly contested defensive battle. Scoring chances were difficult to come by as each side clogged shooting lanes and limited opportunities in front of the net.
Corners Hockey had a power-play opportunity early in the first period following a cross-checking penalty, but Hallzy Films 19U successfully killed it off to keep the game scoreless.
The deadlock continued through the remainder of regulation, with neither team able to find the breakthrough goal despite several strong shifts at both ends of the ice.
With the score still locked at 0-0 after overtime, the semifinal moved to a shootout.
The shootout quickly turned into a back-and-forth showcase of skill. Keira Twomey opened the scoring for Hallzy Films 19U before Kate Glantz answered for Corners Hockey. Ella Pukala restored Hallzy Films 19U’s advantage, but Izzy King responded to keep the teams level.
Zoya Chriss then delivered the decisive goal in the shootout, giving Hallzy Films 19U the edge and sending the team into celebration.
In a game where every inch of ice was earned, Hallzy Films 19U stayed composed under pressure and ultimately emerged with a hard-fought shootout victory to secure its place in the championship game
