PS 101 closes their prelim schedule with win.

FOXBORO – PS 101 Prospects run through the opening round of the 2017 Mini Chowder Cup came to an end on Saturday evening, and it did so with a 7-2 victory over Flames Hockey at Foxboro Sports Center.

All the damage PS 101 needed to do in the contest was done in the first half as they spent the opening 20 minutes amassing a 5-0 advantage over the Flames. Riley O’Brien kicked off the scoring run with the opening goal of the contest at 2:18. Ryan Moulton, Connor Punnett, Chas Sharpe and Aiden Charlebois then all followed suit throughout to help PS 101 compile their advantage.

The Flames came out of the gate strong in the second half, but it was a short-lived rally. Danny Lemanski broke up the shutout with his goal at 3:13 of the second half, but the Flames got no closer than 5-1. The two sides traded goals from there on out to close the 7-2 final score.

A trifecta of Prospects had multipoint outings in the win, led by O’Brien with one goal and one assist. Both Mason Smith and Jessie Taylor were credited with two assists.

The win elevated the Prospects’ opening round record to 3-1-0.
