It has been three up and three down thus far in throughout the 2022 Mini Chowder Cup for both the Halifax Wolverines and Messier Selects. The two brought their records to 3-0-0 records early on Saturday by posting big wins. Messier Selects defeated TeamONE 13-0 in ’09 division play over at New England Sports Village, while Halifax defeated Power Play Hockey ’08 10-0 at the Canton Ice House.
Messier’s stellar attach was led by a hattrick from each Owen Covington (3G), Richard Olek III (3G, 1A) and Pierce Williams (3G, 1A). Teammate Blake Sweeney led the game in scoring with a five assist showing, while netminder Ike Cole posted his second straight shutout.
Angus Procter’s hattrick led the Halifax offense against Power Play, and was aided two-goal performances from Will Shearer and Charlie Benigno. Chike Uzochukwo also had a big game posting four assists, while goaltender Nate Beaton posted his second win and first shoutout of the tournament.
Both sides will look to make it a perfect 4-0-0 run through the opening round of the Mini Chowder Cup later in the day on Saturday.
