FOXBORO – The second day of play at the 2016 Midget Fall Classic is underway, the Minuteman Flames starting off the day’s U16 slate with a 5-2 win over the NS Wings at Foxboro Sports Center.
Defenseman Brad Connor started the game’s scoring with the first of his two on the day, giving the Flames a 1-0 lead 9:35 into the contest. The Wings responded just 17-seconds later to draw it back to even, but the Flames had two more in them before the end of the half. Connor’s second and one from Patrick Wolohan made it 3-1 heading into the locker room.
The Wings once again cut into the Flames lead, notching the first goal of the second half at 6:19, but once again their foe responded with a pair. A short handed score from Alex Elias and the second of the day – fourth of the tournament – from Wolohan sealed the 5-2 victory for the Flames.
Elias’ score was part of his game-high three points (1G, 2A). A trio of the Minuteman forward’s teammates were also credited with multiple points in the contest; two goals apiece for Connor and Wolohan, while Tim Farley was credited with a pair of assists.
