FOXBORO – In their first of two games on the day, the New York Saints U18 secured their first win of the 2016 Midget Fall Classic. They rallied in the second half to pass the Columbus Chill for a 3-2 win at Foxboro Sports Center.
The Saints were on the board first, but were not in front by the opening half’s end. Shaan Greenberg notched his first of the tournament at 7:09 to give New York the 1-0 advantage. The second and third of the tournament from Ian Markovich, however, swung the scoreboard in the favor of the Chill at 2-1.
Markovich’s scores coming at 9:40 and 13:06.
New York once again started the scoring in the second half, but this time around they did not let their foe back onto the score sheet. Aiden Davis recorded the equalizer at 13:23 and then Darren Katz had the game-winner at 17:17 of the second half.
Markovich (2G) and New York’s Spencer Diaz (2A) were the only players with multi-point showings.
