Flames burn Heat, 4-1.

ATTLEBORO – The Vermont Flames notched the win in their first of two games on Day 2 of the 2022 Mini Chowder Cup when they defeated the Tampa Bay Heat 4-1 on Saturday morning at the New England Sports Village.

The contest remained relatively tight through the opening half. Vermont opened things up with to a 2-0 margin on goals by Wyatt Brooks and Ryder Donati. Tampa Bays’ Vinny Carlo put his side on the scoreboard late to cut the deficit to 2-1 heading into the half.

It was not until the second that the Flames were able to pull away. They netted a pair in the game’s latter stage, while netminder Grant Williams kept the Heat off the board. Gunnar Navari and Wesley Casavant chipped in the scores to round things out at their 4-1 final.

With assists on three of his sides four goals, Camden Babin (3A) closed as the game’s leading scorer with three points.
