FOXBORO – After struggling through a pair of games on the tournament’s opening day, it was much the same on the second of the Midget Fall Classic for the Boch Blazers as they closed out their opening round, U16 Division schedule with an 8-5 defeat at the hands of the Northern Cyclones.
The goals came in bunches throughout the first half as on three different occasions goals were scored within a minute of each other, with a combined eight being put away in the frame. The Cyclones drew first blood at 4:16. The Blazers pulled even on a Liam Flinn goal just 25-seconds later and never let the Cyclones get far away from them, but they were left chasing throughout the entire first, which came to an end with the score set at 5-3.
Northern’s offense found a better groove in the second half and put a little more distance between themselves and their foe. Dylan Klopfer and Sean Wilkinson scored at 6:06 and 11:03, respectively, as the Cyclones’ lead went to 7-3, all but sealing their victory, despite two more goals down the stretch by Flinn.
The Boch winger ended the contest with a game-high four goals, but it was not enough as the Blazers fell 8-5. Klopfer finished tied with Flinn with a game-high four points, amassing a goal and three assists. The Cyclones Pat Daly and Boch’s Jake Geller each finished with a goal and two assists.
