BRAINTREE – Punisher Hockey rounded out a perfect 3-0-0 run through the preliminary round at the 2023 Chowder Cup on Friday evening. The final win a 6-3 victory over Salt City Prospects (Grey) in Jr. A Division play at Thayer Academy.
Scoring started slow in the contest. Both sides posted a lone goal in the game’s opening frame. The Punisher’s Nick Marrocco broke the scoring. A late power play goal by Salt City’s Dan Woodford tied the game at 1-1 just before the half.
Punisher took the lead out of the break on a goal by Daniel Keegan, but Salt City rallied for two to take a one-goal lead of their own at 3-2. One from Ethan Paligo and a power play goal from Jared Martin.
It was a lead that was short lived as Punisher was not to be denied in their quest for preliminary perfection. They scored four-straight to take back the lead and seal the 6-4 win.
Sam Myles finished as the game’s high scorer, posting a goal and three assists for Punisher Hockey.
Andrew Webb was the game’s winning netminder.
