An Offensive Second Paces Western Canada

CANTON – The Western Canada All-Stars opened up their stay at the 2017 New England Pro Am Hockey Pre-Draft Showcase with a torrid finish on Friday, resulting in a 4-3 win over the East Coast Spartans at the Canton Ice House.

A quite first turned into a raucous second half. After combining for just one tally in the game’s opening 25 minutes, the Spartans and All-Stars lit the lamp on six different occasions in the latter 25. The two sides trading shots until one was left standing.

Morgan Scriber had Western Canada on top of the first time in the contest at 5:12 of the second, but a power play score by Shamus Lombard had East Coast back to even at 12:45. It was then Chris Breese’s turn to put Western Canada up, but it was a lead that lasted all of 2:49 before Derric Trudeau made it 3-3 at 15:59.

Nikita Slivchenko’s mark at 19:09 was the final to be had, solidifying the 4-3 final in favor of Western Canada. An unassisted score, leaving Scriber and Trudeau as the game’s highest scorers with a goal and an assist each.
