Whalers White doubles up Essentials White

Boston strikes late for 4-2 win.

WALPOLE – Boston Jr. Whalers White started their opening round of play at the 2015 Mini Chowder Cup with a win on Friday, scoring a 4-2 victory over Hockey Essentials White in ’02 division play at Rodman Arena.

Scores and quick rebuttals were a theme throughout the course of the game, starting in the first half. Christopher Hocevar gave Essentials the game’s first lead at 14:49, but the lead was gone just 42-seconds later when Jake Waterman scored a power play goal for the Whalers.

Boston then grabbed the game’s next lead on a Philip Tresca goal at 2:45 of the second half, but as was previously done to them, Essentials did not let the lead last long. Michael Cameron evened the game 2-2 at 3:11 of the second.

The Generals’ power play struck again at 10:59, AJ Cerbone scoring the go-ahead goal to make it 3-2. This time, however, there was no rebuttal for Essentials. Tommy Messineo scored at 16:46 to give the Whalers the game’s first two-goal advantage, and it was one they did not relinquish. The 4-2 score holding until game’s end.

Waterman and Messineo each went for a goal and an assist, while the Whalers’ Sasha Teleguine was credited with a game-high two assists.
