ATTLEBORO – Townshend Hockey closed out their 2003 Division preliminary round slate of games at the 2019 Bob Crocker Jr. Chowder Cup with a win on Saturday at the New England Sports Village. They defeated the Northern Vermont Wildcats by a score of 3-2.
The Wildcats got the first strike, a goal coming early in the first, but it was Townshend that had the final strikes. They tied the game 1-1 late in the first half on a goal by Billy Mahoney at 23:58, sending the game to the intermission with a score of 1-1.
Townshend grabbed their first lead early in the second half on a goal by Mattie Wierl, but another goal for the Wildcats just 51-seconds later had the game back to tied at 4:54 of the second half.
A shorthanded goal by Boston Jr. Eagles product Nathan Cohen at 14:13 broke the tie and, coupled with the performance by goaltender Cameron Schermerhorn, sealed the 3-2 victory for Townshend Hockey.
