Rangers start Day 2 with a win.

Burke’s hat trick paces the 4-1 victory.

FOXBORO – It was an early start to the day for the CD Rangers with a 7 a.m. puck drop, but a good one as they opened Friday’s Chowder Cup action at the Foxboro Sports Center with a 4-1 win over FCA Hockey Red in the College Open Division.

Forward Andrew Burke did the bulk of the damage for the Rangers, opening the scoring with his first of the day just 2:04 into the contest, Tanner Bowditch assisting on the tally. After starting the scoring early in the half, Burke was back at it late, getting his second of the game with just 1:54 remaining before the break for a 2-0 Rangers lead.

The lead grew to 3-0 on a Nick Dunnion goal at 8:53 before Burke polished off his hat trick with an unassisted tally at 13:22 for a 4-0 advantage. Though the game was out of reach, Chris Hunt broke up the shutout, when he put FCA on the board at 23:47 of the second half.

Seth Carter backstopped the win for the Rangers. Bowditch finished with a pair of assists.
