CANTON – Toronto Sparta Academy made a strong opening statement in their tournament opening contest. They opened the 2024 Mini Chowder Cup with a 5-0 shutout of Northstar Elite (Green) in 2010 Elite division play on Friday morning at the Canton Ice House.
Sparta came out strong with opening half goals from Tyler Miele, Asher Precod and Johnny Tait for a 3-0 advantage at the break.
Despite their comfortable lead, Toronto continued to grind out of the intermission, adding goals from Connor Maarse and Aaron Petrov to round out the 5-0 final.
Mitchell Nouwens notched his first shutout of the 2024 Mini Chowder Cup in the Sparta net.
