Future Pro’s down Tropics, 5-1

Rodrigue-Melo, Rocha lead Pro’s in the win.

FOXBORO – In their pool play finale, Future Pro’s Hockey 99’s scored their first win of the 2015 Junior Chowder Cup by defeating the Tropics 5-1 on Saturday at the Foxboro Sports Center.

Things looked good for the Tropics early, garnering themselves the game’s first lead just 2:22 in. A few minutes later, however, their fortunes changed as Liam Donnelly drew the game back to even with his first goal of the tournament at 7:34. From that point the Pro’s were off.

They netted another pair before the end of the break – scores coming from Marco Maggione and Camilo Rodrigue-Melo – to take a 3-1 lead over the Tropics heading into the second half.

Though the damage had already been done, it was a lead the Pro’s added to in the latter half. Rodrigue-Melo netted another early as part of his game-high three-point performance (2G, 1A) to make it 4-1 before Elliot Burgin closed the books with his score at 24:34 to bring it to 5-1.

Andrew Rocha was credited with the win in net for the Future Pro’s.
