Freezers freeze Roc City in second for 2-1 win.

ATTLEBORO – The New England Freezers made it a sweep through the preliminary round of the 2019 Bob Crocker Jr. Chowder Cup as they defeated Roc City Elite Black on Saturday at the New England Sports Village in 2004 Division play.

All of the scoring for this contest came in the game’s opening half. New England was on the board first with a Matt Babineau goal at 4:13, but Roc City came right back with an Aidan Boonyaham score at 5:59. Babineau was not done in the frame, however, as he netted a power play goal at 10:19.

With 14:41 remaining in the first and a whole second half to play, hard to think for some Babineau’s second was to stand that length as the game-winner, but that it did. Goaltender Jamie Sussman came on for Roc City to start the second half and closed the door on the Freezer offense. New England counterpart Luke Ramsey, who played the entirety of the contest, matched his opponent’s second half performance to keep the scoresheet clean and secure the one-goal victory for the Freezers. The final tally coming in at 2-1.
