Crows ’03 notch first win of Mini Chowder Cup

FOXBORO – Three weeks of Chowder Cup hockey is coming to a close, Friday morning opening play in New England Pro-Am Hockey’s 2016 Mini Chowder Cup. The first of the weekend’s slated games resulting in a 4-1 win for the New England Crows ’03 over Hockey Concepts ’03 at the Foxboro Sports Center.

The Crows struck quick in the first half to put themselves up on top of Hockey Concepts. Shane McDonough netting the tournament’s first goal at 5:27 for the 1-0 lead, and Brett Niland quickly turning around and making it 2-0 just over a minute later at 6:36.

New England’s 2-0 lead lasted into the game’s second half, but not long thereafter as Alex Culot made it 3-0 just 1:49 after the frame’s opening face-off. Concepts netted the game’s next goal to cut into their deficit, Tanner Kontir with the score at 12:19, but the rally went no further. The Crows were back on the score sheet next, Justin Chiasson finalizing the 4-1 score at 16:03.
