Foxborough, Mass. — The 2011 Division championship came down to the wire Sunday, with the zamBRONies outlasting Threes Hockey 2011 in a shootout after the teams battled to a 1-1 tie through regulation.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS:
Threes Hockey 2011 wasted little time taking the lead as Justin Kujawa (#19) buried a pass from Charlie Cavanagh (#5) just 1:42 into the game.
The score remained unchanged for much of the period thanks to strong goaltending at both ends before the zamBRONies finally broke through late in regulation. Alex Cichosz (#67) tied the game with 7:10 remaining off a feed from Colin Bencik (#37), sending the championship matchup beyond regulation.
Neither team found the back of the net in overtime, setting up a decisive shootout.
The zamBRONies took control in the shootout as Dan Granato (#21) and Cooper Nass (#13) each scored. Threes Hockey 2011’s only successful attempt came from Charlie Cavanagh (#5), while the remaining Threes Hockey 2011 shooters were turned aside, sealing the shootout victory and the 2011 Division championship for the zamBRONies.
