Wildcats maul Militia.

CANTON – The Northern Vermont Wildcats ’05 debut performance at the 2018 Mini Chowder Cup went down as a convincing win on Friday. They defeated the East Coast Militia 5-1 at the Canton Ice House.

Scoring came at a torrid start to open the game. Northern Vermont’s Robbie Marshall began the scoring at 3:52. Teammate Cason Chu added to it less than two minutes later at 5:49.

Will Doherty had the Militia back to within one on a goal at 7:11 of the first. The resulting 2-1 score lasting until the halftime break.

It did not last long thereafter, however, the Wildcats restoring their two-goal advantage less than a minute after the second half’s opening draw on another score by Chu. Marshall had his second at 8:16 to make it 4-1, and Brendan DuBray, already with two assists to his credit, finally scored one of his own in the contest to make it a 5-1 final at 15:57.

Chu (2G, 1A) and DuBray (1G, 2A) led all scorers in the game with three points apiece. Cole Sweet was the winning netminder of record for the Wildcats.
