FOXBORO – There were 60 games on the schedule to start the second day of the 2016 Jr. Chowder Cup. The final of which was a 3-0 shutout victory for Townshend Hockey Maine Selects ’01 over Boston Knights ’01 Friday evening at the Foxboro Sports Center.
Townshend struck quick on their way to victory, Sam Frechette putting his mates on the scoreboard at 4:01 of the first half. Despite the early score, it was the only strike either side could muster in the game’s opening 25-minutes.
There was not much more scoring to be had in the second half either, Frechette remaining the only skater on the ice to solve the riddle of the opposing goaltender. Twice more the Townshend forward struck, completing his hat trick and his team’s 3-0 victory with goals at 3:58 and 19:17 of the second half.
The three scores in the contest were the first three of the tournament for Frechette.
Ridge Field (2A) also had two points in the contest.
