Top Shelf defeats Skyland

Hold off late rallies for 6-4 victory.

FOXBORO – To keep their perfect record at the 2015 Mini Chowder Cup going, Top Shelf Hockey ’02 defeated Skyland Selects 6-4 on Saturday at the Foxboro Sports Center.

Top Shelf started the game with command, opening up a 3-0 lead on a pair of goals from Ed Martino and a goal by Aden Hotchkiss. A late goal by Thomas Santaita at 18:43 of the first put Skyland on the board and left Top Shelf with a 3-1 lead heading into halftime.

That lead was back to three just 44-seconds into the second half, Hotchkiss’ second of the game making it 4-1. Skyland rallied with a pair just 30-seconds apart to get back to within one early in the second, but 30-seconds after that Top Shelf’s lead was back to two at 5-3 when Hotchkiss completed his hat trick at 4:00.

Skyland added another, but so did Top Shelf, keeping their opponent at length and completing their 6-4 victory.

Hotchkiss’ three goals and four points were both game-highs, a performance seconded by Martino’s three points, credited with two goals and an assist. Johnny Cielo (2G) and Thomas McCarren (2A) were each credited with multipoint showings for Skyland.
