CANTON – The 35th chapter in the history books of New England Pro Am’s Pre Draft Showcase got going on Friday morning at the Canton Ice House as Northstar Elite defeated Power Play Hockey 7-4 in Jr. A division play.
A much different result was seemingly on the horizon for Power Play at the start. They stormed out to a 3-0, opening half lead. Lucas Lewin, Matthew Dann and Greg Monthie each credited with a score to send Power Play to the intermission with the advantage.
The good times ended for Power Play when the teams returned to the Ice House ice for the second half and Northstar began their offensive assault. The eventual victors saved all seven of their goals in the contest for the game’s latter stage. A hat trick for Shane Glesner and a pair each from Hudson Pettit and Brayden Sainato accounted for Northstar’s scoring.
A second of the game from Dann accounted for Power Play’s fourth in the 7-4 final.
Both Pettit and Dann had a pair of assists to go with their pair of goals, giving each a game-high four points.
