CANTON – The Texas Knights made it two wins in two games at the 2025 Jr. Chowder Cup on Saturday afternoon. Their second victory a 6-3 win over the Salt City Prospects in 2010 division play at the Canton Ice House.
Much of the game’s scoring came in the second half, Knights netminder Connor Newman and Prospects counterpart Keegan Bertrand staring in the opening frame. Each goaltender yielded only once – a Cameron Sellers’ goal for Texas and a Mason Donabella tally for Salt City – sending the game to the intermission tied 1-1.
Out of the break, however, the goaltenders took a backseat to an offensive flourish.
Adam Gerson put Salt City in front less than a minute into the second half, but from there it was all Texas. They ran off five straight scores – including a power play tally from Owen Herrick – to take a commanding lead. Henry Frazee netted the third for Salt City, but with the goal coming in the closing seconds, there was no comeback to be had. The game finished as a 6-3 Knights’ victory.
Herrick (1G, 2A) and Brycen Woodbury (1G, 2A) each had a three-point showing for the Knights.
Newman was credited with his second win of the Jr. Chowder Cup.
