Team Pittsburgh beats Avalanche

Six-goal second half secures first win of tourney.

CANTON – In their final chance to do so, Team Pittsburgh nabbed their first win of the 2014 Chowder Cup, exploding in the second half to roll to a 7-2 victory over the Avalanche in the College Open Division.

Trailing 1-0, the onslaught began late in the first when Pittsburgh winger Thomas Keating evened the game with his first goal of the tournament, coming with just 1:11 left before halftime. The lead was theirs for good when Wyatt Glover scored at 4:54 of the second, but Team Pittsburgh continued to pour it on from there.

Pittsburgh went for six in the period, Glover leading the way with three. The centerman was tied as the game’s points leader by teammate Hunter Dalton, who had a goal and two assists.

Jessy St. Jacques and Vincent Courroux were each credited with a goal for the Avalanche.
