FOXBORO – With a 2-1-0 record, Somang Hockey’s stay at the 2017 Midget Fall Classic came to an end on Saturday evening at the Foxboro Sports Center. It was a memorable end, however, as they finished their U16 division slate with a 10-0 rout of the Boston Jr. Huskies.
A quick initial strike by Benjamin Gagnon just 16-seconds after the game’s opening face-off set the tone for Somang. It was some time before they found their way back into the scoring column, but the offense seemed to become more timely as the game went along.
Somang scored thrice more before the first half’s end. Two goals from Seiya Kudoh and one from Nikolas Desjardins made it a 4-0, halftime lead. And although that was more than enough offense, Somang did even better in the second half.
Two goals for Samuel Pilon. Two more for Kudoh. Maxime Briesbois and Damon Dulac each with a tally. The six Somang scores in the second half made it 10 for the game, three more than they had scored in their previous two games of the tournament combined.
Kudoh (4G) and Pilon (2G, 2A) finished the game tied for its lead in points with four apiece. With a goal and an assist, Dulac was the game’s only other multipoint scorer.
