SHD New England top champions at 2018 Mini Chowder Cup, defeating Quebec Prospects All-Blacks in ’04 championship.

FOXBORO – New England Pro Am Hockey’s final Chowder Cup tournament of the summer concluded on Sunday afternoon. With the final curtain of the 2018 Mini Chowder Cup came the coronation of SHD New England as the tournament’s top team. They defeated the Quebec Prospects All-Blacks 1-0 to claim the 2004 division championship.

Quebec had the size and the skill, but SHD had the speed. Speed they used to their advantage, chasing everything down. The ’04 championship, however, was not a game for the offense, but a game for the defenses to stand out.

The game was played to the outside along the boards. Only one was yielded throughout the game, a  Connor Prestwich  goal at 9:05. Despite the amount of time left in the contest and the quality of their chances, the All-Blacks could not break through as AJ Cooper posted his second consecutive shutout, having shutdown Fusion Hockey as well in the tournament’s semifinals.

Vincent Fillion was equally as impressive in the Quebec net, but Cooper shined that much brighter in securing the 1-0 win and the title of 2004 division Champion at the 2018 Mini Chowder Cup.
