Roc City, Eastern Ontario finish with a flourish.

FOXBORO – What looked to be a defensive affair for much of the contest ended with a crescendo as Roc City Elite (Black) played the Eastern Ontario Hawks (White) to a 5-3 decision in favor of Roc City on Saturday evening at the Foxboro Sports Center.

There was not much to be noted on the score sheet through much of the game. An unassisted score by the Hawks’ Gabriel Blouin at 18:44 of the first half was the only mark through the opening 25 minutes. Roc City opened the scoring early in the second, drawing even on a Jestin Somero tally at 5:23, but it was not until the game’s closing minutes that either offense took off.

Tied 1-1, as both side’s play at the 2018 Pre-Draft Showcase was nearing it’s end – neither side posed to advance to Sunday’s elimination round – the two offenses decided to send the tournament out in an offensive flourish. Roc City and Eastern Ontario combining to score six goals in the game’s final 9:40.

The Hawks had their lead back at 15:20 on a goal by Thomas Munro, but a pair of quick strikes just over a minute later reversed those fortunes. Blake Bennet at 17:21 and Somero with the second of his two in the contest at 17:40 netted Roc City their first lead of the contest.

It was even again at 18:29 on a Matt Krieger score, but the Roc City offense once again double tapped to put things in their favor. Antonio Demacopoulus and Kyle Prestis both scoring in the game’s final minute to secure the 5-3 victory.

Somero (2G), Bennet (1G, 1A) and Krieger (1G, 1A) tied atop the game’s scoring leader board with two points each. Anthony Keating was credited with the win in net for Roc City.
