Rink Eye Selects a perfect 4-0

Close out opening round with 15-0 assault.

WALPOLE – Rink Eye Selects have taken full advantage of their trip south to the 2015 Mini Chowder Cup. They have dispatched all who have stood across from them with ease throughout their opening round slate of games, which concluded on Saturday with a 15-0 thrashing of the New England Nordiques Blue ’02.

The Selects juggernaut got rolling with a Cole Hodges goal at 2:50, kicking off a barrage that lasted 9:56 and saw Rink Eye amass an 8-0 lead they carried into the break. Things were better for the Nordiques in the second half, but only marginally. The Selects pace was slowed, but just to seven, rounding out the 15-0 shutout.

The victory concluded a dominating run that saw Rink Eye average better than 10 goals scored per game (13.25), while having given up just two goals throughout the tournament.

Hodges’ opening score was the first of a game-high four, doubling his goal total from the previous three games. While Hodges led in goals scored, Josh Barnes led all scorers in the contest with five points, two goals and three assists. Gino Colangelo was also credited with four points, totaling two goals and two assists.

Goaltender Ty Austin was credited with the shutout for Rink Eye.
