FOXBORO – Quebec Prospects White made out for a strong start to their 2018 Jr. Chowder Cup stint early on Thursday morning at the Foxboro Sports Center. They blanked the Duckhunters 6-0 in ’02 division play.
Through the game’s first half, the contest had all the makings of a low scoring affair as the Duckhunters’ Owen Connor and Quebec’s Charles-Antoine Pinard battled things out from their respective goal crease. Just one goal went up on the board in the opening 25 minutes, that coming at the 13-minute mark courtesy of a shorthanded tally by Philippe Thomassin.
That game story changed in the second half, however, when it went from defensive to offensive. The Prospects firepower coming to life.
Five times Quebec struck in the latter 25. Thomassin added a power play score to go with his shorty, a pair went to Thomas Belgrade and then one each for Nicolas Samson and Ariel Chazin to finalize the 6-0 victory.
Thomassin and Belgrade led the way on the scorers list, each with two goals and an assist. Samson and Chazin were also both credited with multiple points, each with a goal and an assist.
While the offense lit up in the second half, Pinard stood tall all game in net, completing his clean sheet for Quebec.
