FOXBORO – The final day of the tournament has arrived.
The opening round and preliminary round of the tournament playoffs are now complete.
Just eight teams remain in the quest for the 2015 New England Pro-Am Hockey Pre-Draft Showcase title, the tournament quarterfinal games beginning at noon on Sunday.
The Boston Generals Elite will face PHDG Red in the first of the four quarterfinal games. Red earned their trip to the quarters by scoring a win over the Boston Generals Draft in the Sunday morning set and then Euro Hockey 2, while Generals Elite needed just one win to advance, beating NE Nordiques Red 5-0.
Also needing just one win in the morning to advance was PHDG White. Their 3-2, preliminary win over East Coast Kings 16 set the stage for their quarterfinal contest against the NE Leafs, who had an OT win over Hockey Essentials Black and a 3-0 win over Canada West Elite Cream in the preliminary round.
With wins over the Casper Coyotes, 6-0, and reigning tournament champion Canada West Red, 4-2, the Tropics set themselves up to face Hockey Essentials Red, who survived a shootout against CHE in their second preliminary round match to advance.
The final quarterfinal matchup will feature the Surrey Eagles Prospects and Hockey Essentials White, who scored Sunday morning wins over Team EPS and Junior Wolfpack Gray.
