CANTON – The Boston Knights came to the 2019 Sr. Chowder Cup and stood to all who opposed them throughout the tournament’s preliminary round. They posted a perfect 3-0-0 record, which culminated with an 8-5 victory over Team Real Speed on Saturday at the Canton Ice House.
Two for Ben Stefanini and one for Brian Carrabes gave the Knights a comfortable three goals in the first half, but a late power play goal by Mathew Veneri had Real Speed trailing by just two, 3-1, at the halftime break.
Returning from the locker room, the two sides traded a pair of goals back-and-forth. Within two and on the comeback trail, Real Speed pulled the goaltender in an attempt to catch Boston with over three minutes remaining in the contest. The Knights, however, foiled their plans and slammed the door shut on Real Speed as they pumped in three empty net goals to make it 8-4.
Real Speed did cap the game’s scoring on a Sean Brown power play goal at 1:09 of the second half, but the comeback was all for naught as the game ended 8-5.
