Nest rolls through prelims.

CANTON – Nest Hockey Academy brought a close to their preliminary round of the 2025 Jr. Chowder Cup on Saturday morning at the Canton Ice House. It was a dominant run through their opening three games of the ’09 Elite division. They finished with a perfect 3-0-0 record, which they punctuated with a 10-2 drubbing of Omega Hockey.

Omega got on the board first against Nest on a Braden Hennessy goal at 8:38 of the opening half, but it would be their lone bright spot in the frame. Xandyr Nelson scored at 10:04 to kick off an uninterrupted run of four that left Nest with a 4-1 advantage at the intermission.

The second half played out in similar fashion with Omega scoring first – a Noel Dorn goal at 1:32– before Nest took flight. This time it was a run of six unanswered goals by the victors to solidify their biggest win of the tournament.

Nest’s attack was a balanced one in their dominant performance with eight different goal scorers amongst their 10 tallies. Kelvin Hood and Luke Storm each finished with a pair of goals for Nest.

Alexi Richard was credited with the win in the Nest goal cage.
