Nailers with big win in Attleboro.

ATTLEBORO – Nailers Hockey Club Red made the most of their final opening round game at the 2022 Sr. Chowder Cup. They took it to Hoser Hockey for a 9-1 win in Jr. A division play at the New England Sports Village on Saturday.

Two quick goals by Jeremy LaCroix in the sixth minute started the Nailers off. A Chris Hamilton goal got Hosers back to within one at the opening half’s midpoint, but Nate Piatek scored just seconds afterward and the fuse for the Nailers offensive explosion was lit.

Piatek had one more in the first to make it 4-1 at the break. With the second came a five-goal bang for the Nailers offense. Sean McWinnie twice, and one each for Cayden Miceli, Jack Falkner and Christian Day accounted for the Nailers’ scoring in finalizing the 9-1 final.

In total five Nailers were credited with multiple points in the contest, Christopher Conroy (5A) leading the way with assists on more than half of his team’s goals. Piatek (2G, 1A), Miceli (1G, 2A), LaCroix (2G) and McWinnie (2G) also with strong contributing performances, while Adam Brecht went down as the winning netminder for the Nailers.
