Lightning remains perfect after morning rout.

CANTON – The preliminary round at the 2017 Mini Chowder Cup is rounding out nicely for the Boston Lightning. They ran their 03 division record to a perfect 3-0-0 on Saturday morning at the Canton Ice House as they dismantled the New England Crows, 10-2.

Boston went to work early and did not let up throughout the opening minutes. Jack Houser started the onslaught with the game’s first score at 1:03. Then a pair of goals by Brendan Gorman – both of which assisted on by Houser and Will Conway – just seconds apart (3:08 and 3:41) set the Lightning lead at 3-0 before the game was even four minutes old.

Their lead eventually grew to 5-0. The Crows got on the board just before the break on a Cameron Sullivan goal at 18:51. The tally cut into their deficit, but was not enough to jump-start any sort of rally.

So much fun in the first, the performance was repeated in the second. Once again the Lightning poured in five. Once again all the Crows could muster was one. Both scores doubling in the second 20-minute session to set the 10-2 final.

Gorman added to his two goals from the first with one in the second to finish with a game-high three as part of his four-point performance (3G, 1A). Houser led the game in scoring with a five-point showing, credited with two goals and three assists. Ben Clarke was the goaltender of record for Boston.

Sullivan and Anthony Attardo were the goal scorers of record for the Crows as New England finished its preliminarily round schedule at 2-2-0.
