FOXBORO –There was little but success for the Boston Lady Whalers program through the first day and a half of the 2024 Women’s Chowder Cup. The most recent of the program’s victories coming in the form of a 13-0 route by the U19 Whalers over Fitzhenry Hockey on Saturday afternoon at the Foxboro Sports Center.
Boston would have had enough with their three goals from the first period, but it was in the second they did most of their damage. Seven times in the middle frame the Whalers offense put a tally on the scoresheet to more than distance themselves from their foe. All before bookending things with another three goals in the third to close out the assault.
Six Whalers were credited with multiple points in the contest, four of them with at least two goals. Lola Reid’s hat trick led the offense, while Boston also got multiple goals from Charleigh Milburn (2G, 1A), Paige Hugie (2G) and Brynn Hanson (2G).
Callie Crean and Jazmina Vecerkova each had a game-high two assists.
It was the third win and first shutout of the tournament for Whalers netminder Noel Schaab.
