FOXBORO – The Janesville Jets are off to a promising start in their first visit to the New England Pro-Am Senior Chowder Cup. They opened their College Open Division slate on Thursday evening at the Foxboro Sports Center by posting a 3-0 shutout of Milton Grey.
Janesville came away with the victory, but it was not an easy one. George Hansen gave them a 1-0 lead with an unassisted power play goal at 13:33 of the first half, but that lead went no further before the break.
The Jet lead did not grow not only throughout the remainder of the first half, but for much of the second half, as well. As the clock wound down and Janesville clung to its slim advantage in the waning minutes, Hansen came through again to give his teammates some breathing room. The Jet defender’s second of the contest making it 2-0 with 2:28 remaining in the second half.
Austan Bellefeuille closed out the 3-0 final with his score at 24:42.
