Hockey Essentials White Repeats

FOXBORO – When Hockey Essentials White claimed the 2015 New England Pro-Am Pre-Draft Showcase championship, they needed to come from behind and take things into overtime in order to do so. There were no such struggles on Sunday at the Foxboro Sports Center when Essentials made their return trip to the Pre-Draft title match. They jumped on Dynamo Hockey early and stayed well out in front on their way to a 7-0 win and repeat as tournament champions.

The score favored Essentials from essentially the opening faceoff, Grant Jozefek putting his side up 1-0 just 1:41 into the contest. All of 41 seconds later, on an Evan Wisocky tally at 2:22, their advantage was 2-0 and the score sheet fully under their control.

That two-goal advantage just 2:22 in matched Essentials’ margin of victory from their first two games of the day, a 3-1 defeat of Shamrocks Elite 3-1 and 2-0 blanking of Canada West Elite Red. Essentials, however, was a team that seemed to get better as they day went on, picking up steam in the semifinals, where they defeated the Boston Jr. Whalers Orange 5-1, and carrying it over into the final against Dynamo.

Marc Johnstone and 2015 Pre-Draft tournament MVP Jack Badini had goals at 8:25 and 16:46, respectively, to up the advantage to 5-0 before Jozefek and Wisocky chipped in their second goals of the game at 20:45 and 26:12. Dylan Healey then came through to close out the 7-0 victory, the game’s final goal coming at 26:36.

Jozefek (2G, 1A) finished as the game’s leading scorer and tied as the tournament’s playoff leading scorer with four goals and two assists on the day, which netted the Essentials forward the 2016 All-Tournament Most Valuable Player Award.

Zachary Risteau had just one assist in the final game, but it was one of five the Essentials forward had on the day, rightfully earning him a place on the All-Tournament team alongside Dynamo forwards Jack Bloem and Dom Kuziak.

Hockey Essentials Billy Sweezey and Dynamo’s Sean Allen were named as the All-Tournament defensive tandem, while Harrison Feeney earned All-Tournament goaltending honors following his shutout of Dynamo in the finals.
